Morro Bay State Park - Morro Bay

5.4 hours 103.4 miles Got an early start today and then stopped for coffee at Paso Robles Inn.  Very warm there and expected to hit a high of 93 today.  We were happy to reach the fog and cloud of the coast at Morro Bay. Lots of tourists in town and we didn't hang around the touristy area.   We went to our usual spot,  Harbor Hut for lunch and special cocktails!  We thought we might need to get a hotel either here or Arroyo Grande but decided to check the State Park on the off chance there might be space.  The Campground Full sign was out but we asked anyway and were told there were only 3 ADA sites available.  Fine.  Gave them my ADA placard and we have a site for the night.  Across the street from the campground is a marina and restaurant and there is the Marina Peninsula trail which we walked.

6 hours 132.2 miles Seemed like alot of driving today.   Stopped in Santa Cruz to see the boardwalk.  We've never stopped in the city so decided it was time to see some of it.   The boardwalk was humming as one of the high schools was let loose there for the day.  The kids were having a hoot! Then we decided to stop and see Salinas as that's another place we've never stopped at.  We went to the historic downtown which was beautiful. This resort is lovely but very windy!  It's 82 degrees and the winds are blowing at 23 mph.  We're rocking and rolling!  Wonder if it will die down overnight?

A lazy day today.   Woke up to some sun which really made the section in front of our site pop.  Drove into Half Moon Bay and walked around exploring.  What a cute town!   We had a lovely lunch then stopped at a local market to pick up some goodies for dinner tonight.  We came back to Pillar Point Harbor to explore.   So nice.  Lots of folks up and about.  We're going to miss this place!   The photo below is at the end of the campground.

6.75 hours 168.2 miles So this morning we picked a campground 84 miles away, about the distance we thought was good.   As we had twice before,  we stopped in Cloverdale for a walk downtown.   A peaceful town with some lovely buildings.  When we got to the campground it wasn't acceptable so we moved on.  Norm wanted to go to Sausalito to see a boat for sale.  While Norm was salivating I went to the park across the parking lot and got a bit of a view of Alcatraz in the fog and in the distance.  This is the harbor the yacht broker was in.  We still couldn't find anything so decided to go back to the 101 and head south.   Interesting major hills in San Francisco (hair-raising) and finally got to the highway and across the Golden Gate Bridge which had major fog rolling in .  Set the GPS for this campground and figured we were close to Half Moon Bay if we needed to look...
